Dr. Tieman considers herself a Texas gal even though she was born in Oklahoma. She was a military brat and ended up in Texas where she attended Stephen F. Austin State University for both her B. S. and Masterís degrees in Health Education. Upon graduation she taught elementary health and physical education for 6 years. Having always had a military ID, she joined the Army and went from an enlisted to an officer rank.
After serving in the military for seven years Anita went back to school; this time at Virginia Tech. She graduated with her doctorate in Counseling Education in 1991.
Having worked as the Executive Director of the Tidewater AIDS Crisis Taskforce, a health educator with the Virginia Department of Health, a counselor with CONTACT Peninsula (a suicide and sexual assault crisis center) and as the Director of the Counseling Center at a local university, Anita brings a broad world view to her counseling practice. Anitaís special areas of interest are adolescent mental health, gender communications, personality type, grief issues, life transitions and most recently, Life Coaching.
Anita sees the world through the perspective of humor and loves to have FUN.
